Wingless Spirits rise at Rolling Thunder.

The new Wingless Sprints Australia (WSA), 410ci Wingless Sprintcar class had its second hit out last night (Novemebr 15th) at Rolling Thunder Raceway and the demonstration runs took on a more competitive nature with some “Rubbin’s racing” spirit between Tony Moule and a man who is used to racing wingless – David Crabtree.

Former Australian and Victorian Street Stock Champion Brad McClure made his debut in the WSA house JEI and was joined by David Magilton, Tony Moule and David Crabtree in the “wingless” Bob Forbes #27.

McClure, like his fellow “Streetie” Justin Sadler the week before, found it a very different beast to a street stock sedan.
“My whole time in Streeties told me that when it won’t turn you get off the throttle. When I did that in this car it just pushed up and into the wall.” McClure said of his axle bending brush with the wall at turn one in his first run.
“By the last run though I was getting the hang of it, how it handles and how fast it is.”

Again, as with Sadler last week, by nights end he was involved in a great tussle with David Magilton in the Ford powered #26.

Former 360 National Champion Tony Moule in his MCF Trailers Eagle was back for another wingless blast and was absolutely relishing his time backing the car in.
However, Crabtree, who’s whole speedway career has been spent racing without wings, was immediately on Moules’ pace and the pair ran one demonstration with a little bit of a rub of wheels at speed as they thundered down the front straight jostling for track position and some bragging rights.

The beautiful WSA Women where on hand again to pose for photo’s with the fans and to hand out promotional give away’s. In what is becoming a WSA signature event, photo’s were taken, printed and made available for the individual fans within minutes.

The next event for the WSA cars is scheduled for Nyora Speedway on November 27th where these high horsepower, low down force machines are sure to be lifting wheels as they power out of the tight Nyora turns. That alone has got to be worth the price of admission.
